Former Arsenal midfielder Mauro Bandeira, 22, has returned to the club's London Colney training centre to maintain his fitness as he searches for a new team after spending almost a year as a free agent.

Bandeira, who was born in Portugal, joined Arsenal in 2018 from Queens Park Rangers after starting his youth career at Barnet.

He spent six years at the club in total, contributing two goals and eight assists in 42 Under-18 appearances and three goals and two assists in 28 Under-21 outings. He was named on Mikel Arteta's bench on five first-team occasions without earning a senior appearance, and also spent a season on loan at Colchester United.

He left Arsenal in 2024 to join Slovenian club NK Tabor Sezana before departing in the summer of last year. He has been without a club since July.

The Sun reported his return to London Colney this week. Arsenal have granted him access to their facilities while he continues his search for his next opportunity.

There is no suggestion of a formal contract offer from the club, but the arrangement speaks to the relationship Bandeira has maintained with the staff there since his departure.
