The 20-year-old midfielder only made his professional debut for Corinthians a year ago but has quickly established himself as one of the best young talents in Brazilian football, contributing seven goal involvements in 34 appearances this season despite currently being sidelined with a thigh injury.
AC Milan attempted to sign him in January, though André opted to see out the season with Corinthians, and Crystal Palace have also been tracking his progress throughout the summer.
Nottingham Forest have been searching for midfield reinforcements since selling Elliot Anderson to Manchester City for a club-record £116million, and had previously made offers for Tottenham Hotspur's Lucas Bergvall and Tijjani Reijnders, who instead left Manchester City for Saudi Arabian side Al-Qadsiah.
André would represent a considerably cheaper alternative to those two failed pursuits, continuing Forest's recent trend of successful recruitment from Brazilian football, having previously brought in Murillo, Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha from the country's top flight.
Forest have also opened talks with Celta Vigo over a move for 25-year-old right-back Javi Rueda, discussing an £8million offer for a player who joined the Spanish club from Real Madrid in 2024.
The Daily Mail says Rueda's situation is complicated by Real Madrid's retained 50 per cent sell-on interest in any transfer fee, while conflicting reports in Spain have emerged over whether the defender is inclined to accept a move to England, with some accounts suggesting he has already turned down Forest's approach despite the club offering to more than double his current wages.
André's rapid rise has drawn admirers well beyond England and Italy, with Netherlands forward Memphis Depay, his team-mate at Corinthians, publicly urging clubs not to rush the midfielder into a move before he is ready. Depay described André as one of the biggest talents he has seen in his career when asked about the Milan interest earlier this year.
