Fiorentina have completed the signing of midfielder Arthur Atta from Udinese on a permanent deal, with the club confirming the move in an official statement on Saturday.

"ACF Fiorentina announces it has acquired, on a permanent basis, the sporting rights to the player Arthur Atta from Udinese Calcio," the statement read. "Born in Rennes (France) on 14 January 2003, over the course of his career he has also worn the shirt of Metz, in addition to Udinese. The new Viola player made 36 appearances across Serie A and Coppa Italia during his last season in Friuli, scoring six goals and providing four assists."

The 23-year-old moves to the Viola Park having emerged as one of Serie A's most sought-after young midfielders following a breakout campaign in Udine, with Milan, Inter and Juventus among the Italian clubs credited with interest before Fiorentina moved decisively. Sporting director Fabio Paratici, who negotiated directly with Udinese's Pozzo family, is understood to have completed the operation overnight, seeing off competition from several Premier League sides in the process.

Atta came through the youth ranks at Rennes and Metz before his professional breakthrough in Ligue 2, joining Udinese on loan in 2024 and turning that permanent for around โ‚ฌ8m last summer. Reports in Italy put the overall package for his move to Florence at close to โ‚ฌ30m including a sell-on clause retained by Udinese, with the midfielder signing a five-year contract worth around โ‚ฌ1.3m per season.

A physically imposing, box-to-box midfielder capable of playing across multiple central positions, Atta gives head coach Fabio Grosso another option in the middle of the park as Fiorentina reshape their squad this summer. The move follows the earlier signing of defender Radu Dragusin, underlining the scale of Paratici's rebuild as Fiorentina look to challenge nearer the top of Serie A after a mixed campaign.

Standing close to 1.90m, Atta combines that physical profile with genuine mobility, able to cover ground, win back possession and drive forward with the ball at his feet โ€” attributes that made him a regular target for Serie A's leading clubs. He had been a peripheral figure during his first year in Udine, making 29 appearances largely from the bench, before establishing himself as an undisputed starter in 2025-26.

For Udinese, the sale represents another example of the club's ability to develop and sell young talent at a profit, having brought Atta in for a fraction of the fee they have now recouped. Atta is expected to complete his medical and sign his new contract in the coming days, with Fiorentina hopeful he can settle quickly into a reshaped midfield.
