The Barcelona defender said the conditions in Valencia made for an uncomfortable contest, with high temperatures and a dry pitch affecting both sides throughout the match at the Ciutat de Valencia.
"The heat, the pitch didn't help either team. It's a difficult ground. We made it harder for ourselves than we needed to," Garcia said. "But it has to be useful for us, because if you give any opponent room to breathe..."
Garcia acknowledged Barcelona had made avoidable errors during the match, though he was ultimately satisfied with the overall performance from his side.
"They're mistakes we can avoid. Generally speaking, we played a good match and we should be happy," he said.
The centre-back also touched on Barcelona's attacking approach and the quality within the squad going forward this season, with several attacking options available to head coach Hansi Flick throughout the campaign.
"We feel comfortable with the ball. Up front we have animals, beasts."
Garcia's comments reflect a squad increasingly aware of the depth and competition for places at Barcelona this season, with Flick able to call upon a wide range of attacking options across every position in the team.
Team-mate Xavi Espart, who scored the opening goal of the match, echoed the sense of healthy competition within the squad following the win over Levante at the weekend.
"We're very happy. This year there's a lot of competition in every position, nobody can afford to switch off," Espart said.
Barcelona have made a perfect start to the league season, sitting top of the table after five rounds, and both players suggested that maintaining focus in every fixture, rather than any single standout performance, would be key to sustaining that form over the course of a long and demanding campaign across multiple competitions this year.
Flick's side face Sevilla next in La Liga, with a short turnaround before the first international break of the season.
