Eldense have completed a spectacular campaign in Primera RFEF, returning to professional Spanish football as league leaders after relegation from Segunda Division, overcoming reserve sides from clubs including Atletico Madrid and Villarreal along the way while playing an attractive, proactive style of football.
That approach has been driven by the arrival of sporting director Mario Rosas, a product of Barcelona's La Masia academy who favours technically progressive players. Rosas is now looking to fish directly from his old club.
According to Sport, Eldense are pursuing loan moves for two Barcelona academy products: Tunkara, 16, and Villar, 18.
Tunkara in particular is considered one of La Masia's brightest gems, having already been called up by head coach Hansi Flick for the start of pre-season with the first team. His immediate path into Barcelona's senior squad remains difficult, however, given that he operates in the same area of the pitch as Lamine Yamal.
At Eldense, both players would find an environment suited to developing in professional football, though Sport reports that for now both are expected to remain in Barcelona rather than move out on loan.
The interest from Eldense underlines the ambition behind the club's project under Rosas, with the newly-promoted side looking to build a squad capable of competing in the second tier through the kind of progressive recruitment strategy more commonly associated with clubs operating at a significantly higher level.
Eldense's promotion as Primera RFEF champions, having dropped down from Segunda Division, represents a significant achievement for a modest club from Elda, with the squad's attractive style of play under Rosas's guidance drawing notice well beyond the division itself.
Pursuing loan talks for two of Barcelona's most highly-regarded academy prospects, even with the outcome still uncertain, signals a level of recruitment ambition that few clubs at this level in Spanish football would typically attempt.
