Paulo Dybala has renewed his contract with Roma for a further season, with the Argentine forward sharing his first impressions of the new deal through the club's official channels.

Asked about beginning a fifth year at the club, Dybala reflected on the significance of staying put.

"This story continues, just as we all wanted. The club, myself, and I hope the fans too. I'm happy to spend another season here, in this city and in this country, and to be able to defend the Roma shirt again, which is a privilege," he said.

Reflecting on what the club means to him, Dybala offered a personal insight into his decision to extend his stay.

"So many things: responsibility, honour, beauty. So many things, on a personal level too, that lead me to still be here defending this shirt. It's a real honour," he said.

The forward also had a message for supporters ahead of the new campaign.

"I'm happy to be with you again next year and to see you at the Olimpico and on our travels, especially when that beautiful music plays that we've all been waiting for, to make you proud on European nights," he said.

Dybala's new deal runs until 30 June 2027, extending his stay in the capital for a fifth consecutive season since arriving from Juventus in the summer of 2022. Since then, he has made 139 appearances for the club, scoring 45 goals and establishing himself as both a technical leader and a dressing-room figurehead.

AS Roma confirmed the agreement in an official statement, describing the forward as a "pillar" of the squad both on and off the pitch, with the club now targeting Champions League football as one of the defining ambitions of the season ahead.

The renewal comes after weeks of negotiations that only accelerated following the arrival of new sporting director Tony D'Amico, whose involvement is understood to have helped bring the two sides together on the final terms. Dybala arrived at Trigoria for the first day of pre-season training shortly after the announcement, ready to link up with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini's squad as they prepare for a campaign that will also see Roma return to Champions League football.

The Argentine's continued presence is seen as a significant boost for a Roma side aiming to build on last season's progress, with the club's hierarchy keen to build continuity around senior figures like Dybala as they look to challenge on multiple fronts domestically and in Europe.
