Coventry City owner Doug King says his club will not be intimidated by their Premier League opener at champions Arsenal, with the Sky Blues never having played a league match at the Emirates Stadium before.

King insists his club will not be intimidated as they prepare to begin their return to the Premier League away at champions Arsenal.

Coventry will open their season under the live television cameras on Friday 21 August, with an 8pm kick-off at the Emirates Stadium. The Sky Blues have not visited the ground since losing 4-0 in an FA Cup match there in January 2014, and have never played a league fixture at the stadium.

The club's first ever Premier League match at the CBS Arena will follow against play-off winners Hull City on Saturday 29 August, before head coach Frank Lampard takes his squad to Manchester City on Saturday 5 September.

Coventry will then host Brighton, Newcastle, Fulham and Sunderland before the end of October, with away trips to Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur also on the early-season schedule.

King addressed the challenge of the opening fixture in an interview with Sky Sports.

"We haven't been here in a long time, never in this stadium. We're not intimidated by it, we're not daunted by it, we want to give it a proper play. We feel we belong there. We got there as champions. That's how the team think about it," King said.

He also reflected on the contrast between facing Arsenal and hosting Hull at home in their first top-flight game back at the CBS Arena.

"Away game at Arsenal there won't be too many that can get to that one, Hull at home they'll probably be going 'Gee, Hull at home again' โ€” no disrespect to Hull, of course, but they had it last year.

"Our season ticket sales have been going great guns. People are really, really excited. It's just going to build and build and build," King said.
