Borussia Dortmund have officially extended Samuele Inácio's contract until June 2029 and promoted the 18-year-old striker to the first-team squad permanently, moving quickly to protect one of the most sought-after prospects in European football.

Inácio joined Borussia Dortmund from Atalanta Bergamo's youth academy in the summer of 2024 and has developed rapidly through the club's age groups. He turned 18 in April, which automatically converted his youth contract into a professional deal, a clause that had been kept confidential and gave Dortmund a significantly stronger negotiating position than the market had assumed. The new agreement formalises and extends that arrangement.

The extension dismisses the immediate interest from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, who had been encouraged by reports his deal expired in 2027.

Dortmund sporting director Lars Ricken spoke of his conviction that the Italian junior international is destined for the top.

"With his skills and potential, Samu is one of the greatest talents of his age group worldwide. We are convinced that with his dedication and his quality he can develop into an exceptional player. He is an important part of our team's development and that is why we are delighted to have secured his services long-term."

Sporting director Ole Booker added: "He is clever on the ball, assured in possession, strong in combination play. He has a very good feel for space, which also makes him dangerous in front of goal. These qualities, combined with his work ethic and desire to improve, make him a really good player who has already developed well here and still has big steps ahead of him."

Inácio himself spoke of scoring his first senior Bundesliga goal last week — a strike in the 3-2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in front of the Yellow Wall at Signal Iduna Park.

"I feel very comfortable at BVB and am proud to have made my Bundesliga debut at this great club. The feeling of scoring my first goal in front of the Yellow Wall was incredible and I want to celebrate many more successful moments with my team, the club and its incredible fans in the future."

Inácio has made six first-team appearances this season, scoring once and providing one assist. He is viewed internally as a potential long-term successor to Julian Brandt in Dortmund's attacking midfield.
