The Spain international, 30, fits the profile Deportivo La Coruna have targeted from the outset of the window: explosive pace and power on the wing, combined with experience at clubs including Barcelona, Aston Villa and Fulham. He is a free agent after his contract with West Ham expired, having joined the London club in a £2m move from Fulham in January.
Deportivo's interest gives them the advantage of not having to negotiate a fee, though Traoré's wage demands, shaped by more than a decade in the Premier League, represent a significant obstacle, along with the signing bonus that would likely be required to complete a free transfer.
For now, the club have only made contact to express their availability rather than opening formal negotiations, with a long list of alternative right-wing targets still under consideration.
Traoré began his career at Barcelona's academy before a breakthrough at Aston Villa, followed by spells at Middlesbrough and Wolverhampton Wanderers, where a loan to Barcelona in 2022 briefly reunited him with the club that developed him. He later joined Fulham as a free agent before his move to West Ham this year.
Elche have also been credited with interest in the winger as they assess market opportunities of their own.
Any deal for a winger will also depend on Deportivo's other business. The club, after signing young centre-back Brigth Ede, is also seeking a more experienced central defender with the profile to lead the backline following the club's return to the top flight, with a left-footed option preferred given the squad is already well stocked on the right. Should that signing arrive, either Comas or Dani Barcia is expected to depart on loan, most likely opening a path for the academy graduate Barcia to gain more first-team involvement elsewhere.
Sporting director Fernando Soriano has previously stressed that Deportivo's transfer strategy this summer is not built around raising funds through sales, insisting the club's approach "isn't about selling" its existing talent even as it continues to add depth across the squad.
Deportivo have already made seven signings ahead of their return to the top flight, and completing the squad with a proven right-winger and an experienced centre-back remains the priority before the market closes.
