Henderson is expected to return after the international break in time to face Nottingham Forest, the club where he spent a productive loan spell earlier in his career and who saw an approach to sign him rebuffed by Palace during the summer transfer window.
He has established himself as first-choice goalkeeper at Selhurst Park since replacing Sam Johnstone, who left for Wolverhampton Wanderers in a £10 million deal two years ago. Henderson was handed the captaincy following the January sale of Marc Guéhi to Manchester City, and has since become one of the dressing room's senior voices under new boss Pierre Sage.
His save from Omar Marmoush's penalty in the FA Cup final remains a defining moment of his Palace career, but it is his recent form that has stood out, including a string of key saves in last week's 3-2 win over Fulham that delivered Sage his first victory in charge. Palace's hierarchy view keeping Henderson as central to maintaining stability in a squad that is otherwise light on leadership and experience.
Elsewhere at Selhurst Park, Sage had been hoping Ismaila Sarr would be back in training this week after the winger's stance on leaving in the summer caused friction with supporters. Sage said before the Fulham win that the Senegal international would need time to come to terms with the club's refusal to sanction a move.
With the transfer window now closed and last season's player of the year still on the books, Palace will be hoping Sarr can follow the lead of Jean-Philippe Mateta in refocusing on performances.
