ESPN Brasil journalist Felipe Silva first reported the move, with transfer insider VenΓͺ Casagrande subsequently confirming the development. Brito departed Botafogo last week after more than four years with the Brazilian club, having joined in 2022 and risen to become one of the central figures in their recruitment operation.
His appointment at Palace carries a particular logic. Both clubs operate within the Eagle Football Holdings network, a shared ownership structure that has facilitated significant player movement between Brazil and south London in recent years. While that structure has evolved since John Textor's involvement with Palace, the familiarity between the clubs remains β and Brito's existing relationships within that ecosystem are expected to ease his transition into English football.
During his time at Botafogo, Brito played a significant role in identifying and signing Igor Jesus, John Victor and Jair Cunha β all three of whom have since moved to Nottingham Forest. He was also instrumental in the arrivals of World Cup winner Thiago Almada and midfielder Danilo Santos, the latter of whom has attracted interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.
Those signings formed the spine of a Botafogo squad that won both the Copa Libertadores and the Brazilian Championship in 2024 β the most successful period in the club's modern history and one that substantially elevated the reputation of everyone involved in their sporting department.
Palace are in a period of reconstruction following Oliver Glasner's departure and will look to Brito's South American contacts as a key element in identifying the next wave of emerging talent.
