Gboho had appeared close to a switch to Major League Soccer side Kansas City before that deal broke down, clearing the way for Coventry to step in with an agreement worth 12 million euros (£10.3m) that was submitted to the Premier League just ahead of Tuesday's deadline.
The transfer still required ratification from FIFA before it could be completed, which has since been granted, though the move remains subject to UK visa approval.
Born in Ivory Coast, the 25-year-old represented France at youth level and becomes the 12th and final piece of a summer spending spree that has taken Coventry's outlay beyond £100m following their promotion to the Premier League.
He arrives with a proven scoring record in Ligue 1, having made 83 appearances for Toulouse and scored 19 goals with 12 assists since joining the club in January 2024 for a fee of around €2.5m from Cercle Brugge.
Gboho started his career at Rennes before a loan spell at Vitesse Arnhem, later moving on a free transfer to Cercle Brugge, where his form eventually earned him the switch to Toulouse that established him as a regular contributor in French football. He is a cousin of PSG and France forward Désiré Doué, as well as fellow professional footballer Guéla Doué, giving the Coventry signing an unexpected family connection to one of Europe's most talked-about young attacking talents.
Manager Frank Lampard will hope the winger's pace and end product can add another dimension to a Coventry attack preparing for the step up to the Premier League, with the club having already invested heavily across the squad to give themselves the best possible chance of avoiding an immediate return to the Championship.
