The Premier League newcomers are believed to have paid Nordsjaelland a fee of €27m (£23.1m), plus a further €3m (£2.5m) in add-ons, for the 20-year-old, who becomes the latest player to break Coventry's transfer record this summer following a string of significant additions since promotion.
Yirenkyi made his international debut for Ghana in May 2025 and played a prominent role at this summer's World Cup, scoring a stoppage-time winner in the Black Stars' group-stage win over Panama that helped Ghana progress beyond the first round for the first time since 2010.
The midfielder becomes Coventry City's fifth summer signing as head coach Frank Lampard continues to reshape a squad preparing for the club's first top-flight campaign in 25 years.
A product of the Right to Dream Academy, Yirenkyi made 34 appearances for Nordsjaelland last season, helping the Danish club finish third in the Superliga and qualify for the Conference League, form that earned him the league's Young Player of the Year award and a place in the Team of the Season.
Yirenkyi said he was relishing the move to the Midlands. "I'm excited to be at this club. I've heard so much about it and I really feel positive about being here.
"When I spoke to the Head Coach about the plans and the style, it's something I really like, and I look forward to learning from him.
"I want to give my best to the team each and every day. I'm still young so I want to learn from the Head Coach, the other players and work really hard for the team. I've also heard a lot about the fans, they're incredible and I can't wait to play in front of them."
