The deal consists of a £5million fee with a further £1million in add-ons, and would tie the 33-year-old to the newly promoted Sky Blues for three years, with the option of a further 12 months. Pinnock has been given permission to travel for a medical ahead of the proposed move.
The Jamaica international has entered the final year of his contract at Brentford, which runs until 2027, and did not feature in the Bees' season-opening win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
He is set to become Coventry's ninth summer arrival, and their second at centre-back after Aurèle Amenda joined from Eintracht Frankfurt in July, reports the Athletic.
Pinnock joined Brentford from Barnsley in 2019 and has gone on to make 216 appearances for the club, contributing 12 goals and seven assists while playing a key role in their 2020-21 promotion campaign from the Championship. He became a mainstay of the side that established itself in the Premier League over the following seasons.
In recent seasons, however, he has lost his place in the starting XI, failing to come off the bench for the final eight Premier League games of the 2024-25 season and featuring in only eight matches last term, four of which came in the league.
A move to Coventry would offer him a route back to regular first-team football following his years as a fringe figure at the Gtech Community Stadium.
