Chelsea attacking midfielder Kobe Barbour has signed a new contract keeping him at Stamford Bridge until at least June 2030 after progressing through the club’s academy.

Barbour has been part of Chelsea’s academy since joining as an Under-8, progressing through the youth ranks before establishing himself with the Under-18s.

The attacking midfielder, who can operate centrally or in a wider position, has now been rewarded with a new agreement that will keep him at the club until at least June 2030.

His development has included involvement in two successful academy teams in 2024, when Chelsea won the Under-16 Premier League and Under-17 Premier League Cup.

Barbour continued to make progress during the 2025/26 campaign, scoring five goals and providing two assists for the Under-18s. He also made five league appearances for Cobham Next Gen, the club’s development programme for emerging young players.

One of the highlights of his season came in the UEFA Youth League, where he marked his debut in the competition with a goal during Chelsea’s 5-2 victory over Benfica.

The new contract represents another milestone for a player who has spent almost his entire footballing development at Cobham. Having joined as a young child, Barbour has progressed through the academy structure and is now looking to build on his experience at Under-18 and Next Gen level.

His ability to play in more than one attacking position offers flexibility, while his goals and assists last season demonstrated his contribution in the final third.

Chelsea have continued to invest in the development of their young players, with Barbour’s new agreement ensuring that he remains part of the club’s long-term academy plans.

The midfielder will now look to maintain his progress and earn further opportunities as he moves through the next stages of his development. His contract extension provides continuity after a season in which he gained experience across different levels of the academy and made his mark in European youth competition.
