Chelsea have secured Chizaram Ezenwata’s future with a new contract until June 2029 after the academy forward impressed for club and England youth teams.

The 18-year-old has progressed through Chelsea’s Cobham academy since joining during his under-15 season. The club says his footwork and finishing have stood out as he has moved through the age groups, and his output in front of goal has helped him become a regular for the Cobham Next Gen squad.

Ezenwata’s 2025-26 campaign with the under-18s was particularly productive. He scored 15 goals and supplied seven assists in 21 appearances, numbers that helped earn him a nomination for Under-18 Premier League Player of the Season.

He has also gained experience above his age group. Ezenwata made his Premier League 2 debut against Manchester City during the 2024-25 season and continued to feature in the competition as well as for the under-18s during the following campaign.

Chelsea announced the new deal on their official website, describing Ezenwata as a forward who has made an impression through his attacking threat. The contract secures his services into 2029, although the club has not disclosed further terms.

His progress has also been reflected at international level. Ezenwata represented England at the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar, where he scored a hat-trick in an 8-1 group-stage win against Haiti.

More recently, he featured for England Under-19s during the September and October international window, scoring three goals across three matches. That return has added to the evidence of his development and gives him further opportunities to progress within the national-team pathway.

The new contract is another step in Chelsea’s attempt to retain and develop young players who have come through Cobham. Ezenwata has moved between age groups and gained Premier League 2 experience.

His next challenge will be to continue producing at senior youth level and push for further opportunities with the club’s development sides. The deal to 2029 gives Chelsea time to assess his progress while keeping a promising attacking option within their system.
