Despite spending £349m on 11 new arrivals including Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix and Emiliano Martínez, the Blues turned an overall profit once the scale of their outgoing business is accounted for. Chelsea's own internal figures put their income from departures this summer at more than £500m once loan fees are included, a total that would represent a world record for a single transfer window.
Independent calculations by BBC Sport, carried out by FootballTransfers.com founder Paul Macdonald, put incomings at £349m against outgoings of £382m, though that figure excludes any loan option or obligation fees, or clauses dependent on future performance targets. By Chelsea's own estimate, the club has made a profit of about £120m on transfer activity this window.
In total, 17 players left on permanent deals and a further 22 went out on loan, four of those attached to sell-on options or obligations worth a combined £140m or more. Add in four young players released outright, and 39 individuals departed Stamford Bridge — even after all that turnover, Chelsea's own website still lists a 30-man first-team squad.
The headline sale saw Enzo Fernández join Manchester City for £125m on deadline day, a fee that matches the British transfer record. Senegal striker Nicolas Jackson moved to Aston Villa for £65m, while Spain full-back Marc Cucurella completed a switch to Real Madrid worth £51.8m.
Liam Delap and Andrey Santos were each sold in deals worth around £50m. Including two loan deals carrying significant future obligations — Mykhailo Mudryk's move to Tottenham with a £75m option, and Alejandro Garnacho's switch to Villa with a £43m obligation — Chelsea recorded seven separate transactions above £40m. For context, there were only four £40m-plus signings across the whole of Serie A this summer, two in La Liga and four in the Bundesliga.
Chelsea's willingness to trade within the Premier League, including with direct rivals, has been a defining feature of their business under the current ownership.
Arsenal have signed more Blues players than any other 'big six' club since the takeover, recruiting Noni Madueke, Kai Havertz and Kepa Arrizabalaga among others, while Chelsea have completed eight deals with Aston Villa and eight with Brighton over the same four-year period.
Mudryk's move to Tottenham marked the first transfer between the two clubs in 17 years and the first loan between them in 34 years. Sister club Strasbourg also featured prominently once again, with two permanent transfers and three loans completed between the pair this summer.
