Al Mubarak spoke to Diario AS in a notable intervention designed to reassure a fanbase shaken by a sudden drop after two seasons of genuine European ambition. Girona had qualified for the Champions League in 2024-25 before suffering a steep decline in form this campaign.
"We will come through this and we will bring them back. This summer we will do what needs to be done and get this team back on the right path to return to La Liga — it is only a matter of time."
He was equally direct when contextualising the setback.
"The return to the second division was a very hard blow for everyone, I am sure. It saddens us greatly.
"But that is already in the past. Now we are not sad — now we are focused on what we need to do to get Girona back to La Liga. And we will achieve it."
Al Mubarak also wanted to make clear that CFG's longer-term investment plans for Girona remain fully intact, regardless of the division they find themselves in.
"Girona is a fundamental part of the Group. We have many plans for the club because we have a very clear vision for La Liga. We also have a very clear vision for Girona itself — the talent development in Girona and in this region of Spain and Catalonia, the academy project we are developing there, the stadium we will develop. All these plans do not change."
