Barring injury, the 22-year-old will be involved this Friday when Claudio Giráldez's side travel to Portugal to face Sporting Braga in their first pre-season friendly, continuing life as normal at the training ground despite his uncertain future.
It has been an open secret since the end of last season that Moriba is available, with Celta's finances leaving them little choice but to pursue a sale. The club had hoped to complete a deal before 30 June but failed to do so, contributing to financial year losses of around €15m.
Celta paid roughly €6m to sign Moriba from RB Leipzig in 2025, but the German club retained a percentage of any future sale and the player himself also kept a share after agreeing to lower his salary to join Vigo. As a result, Celta are looking for at least €20m for his departure, though they have indicated a willingness to accept an offer close to that figure.
Moriba's salary is the highest in Celta's squad following Iago Aspas's pay-cut renewal, which narrows the list of clubs able to match both his financial demands and the sporting project he would be joining, with Celta due to play in the Europa League again this season. That combination of factors has turned attention towards the Premier League, where Celta believe clubs are best placed to meet his valuation.
As in previous windows, Celta have worked through agents and intermediaries with strong Premier League contacts to gauge interest — a strategy that produced the sales of Jorge Strand Larsen to Wolves for €30m in 2024 and Fer López to the same club a year later, both aided by Jorge Mendes.
Aston Villa, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Hull City indirectly know the terms under which Moriba could be signed this summer, though none have yet made a concrete move, reports Nos Diario.
Celta had hoped for firm offers approaching their €30m release clause by June, and while interest has fallen short so far, the club believes the World Cup's conclusion will accelerate the market in the coming weeks.
