Manchester United have confirmed their retained list, with Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, left-back Tyrell Malacia and winger Jadon Sancho among three senior figures departing as their contracts expire.

Casemiro joined United from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 in a deal worth up to £70 million and spent four seasons at the club, making 160 appearances and scoring 26 goals. He played a defining role in the 2022-23 Carabao Cup victory, heading home against Newcastle United in a colossal display at Wembley.

He also won the FA Cup in 2024. The Brazil national team captain departs with two trophies and the respect of the club, but his final seasons were characterised by declining form and a squad that struggled badly in the Premier League.

Malacia joined from Feyenoord in the summer of 2022 and made 50 first-team appearances across four seasons, though his time was consistently disrupted by injury. He featured three times in the 2025-26 season and was part of the Carabao Cup-winning squad in 2023.

Sancho arrived at Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for £85 million, made 83 appearances for the club and was also part of the 2023 Carabao Cup side. His time at United was turbulent.

A public dispute with manager Erik ten Hag in 2023 led to him returning to Dortmund on loan, after which he had further temporary spells at Chelsea and Aston Villa. He never rediscovered the form that made him one of Europe's most exciting wingers.

United have offered a new contract to academy graduate Dermot Mee, who has played an important role in first-team training in recent years while representing the Under-21s in competitive matches.

Among the academy departures, Sonny Aljofree, James Bailey and Malachi Sharpe will all leave the club this summer. The club confirmed that defenders Albert Mills and Dante Plunkett are expected to sign their first professional terms with United in July.

United issued a statement of thanks for all departing players, adding that each would be supported through a bespoke aftercare programme and will "always have a lifelong association with Manchester United."
