Carnevali arrives at Juventus from Sassuolo and is reported to have made an immediate call to head coach Luciano Spalletti before travelling to the club's Continassa training base.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport, Carnevali wants to build a Juventus squad with a stronger core of Italian players heading into next season. Among the names reportedly on his list are two players currently at Liverpool: winger Federico Chiesa and centre-back Giovanni Leoni.
Chiesa, 28, left Juventus for Liverpool in the summer of 2024, a move he has since admitted he did not really want to make. His time at Liverpool has not gone as hoped, and he has been continuously linked with a return to Italy, including reported interest from Como and Roma. Chiesa's contract with Liverpool runs until the summer of 2028.
Leoni, 19, joined Liverpool from Parma ahead of last season but suffered a long-term injury in September that limited his game time. The young centre-back's contract with Liverpool runs until 2031. Gazzetta also reports that Juventus have an interest in Fiorentina midfielder Cher Ndour, 21, as part of Carnevali's wider plans.
Ndour is under contract with Fiorentina until 2029 and scored three goals in 33 Serie A appearances last season. Reports suggest Juventus midfielder Fabio Miretti could be used as part of any deal involving Ndour, given Fiorentina's interest in the player.
Other names mentioned in connection with Carnevali's project include Sassuolo winger Domenico Berardi, Inter midfielder Davide Frattesi and several younger Italian prospects. Carnevali's relationship with Berardi dates back to his time at Sassuolo, where the forward has spent much of his career. Frattesi, who is reportedly available from Inter for a fee in the region of โฌ30m, has also been credited with interest from clubs in the Premier League.
The appointment of Carnevali follows the departure of Comolli, with reports suggesting his relationship with Spalletti had become strained during his time in charge. Juventus finished outside the Champions League qualification places last season, missing out on the additional revenue that competition provides.
That financial reality is expected to shape Carnevali's approach, with reports suggesting Juventus will need to generate transfer income through player sales to fund any incoming deals.
Centre-back Bremer has been mentioned as a player attracting interest from the Premier League, which could provide funds for Carnevali's rebuild.
For now, Carnevali's priorities appear clear: identify Italian talent that fits Spalletti's project, while balancing the club's books in a market that offers little room for error. Whether any of the reported targets, particularly the Liverpool pair, can be turned into genuine pursuits will likely become clearer as the summer transfer window progresses.
