Julian Brandt is preparing for an emotional farewell at Borussia Dortmund, with the Germany international now entering the final days of a seven-year spell before choosing the next club of his career.

The 30-year-old attacking midfielder is expected to leave Dortmund this summer, ending a chapter that has seen him become one of the club’s most recognisable creative figures.

His final appearance for Borussia Dortmund is set to come on Saturday against Werder Bremen in his hometown, a setting Brandt has openly admitted feels almost too fitting.

“I couldn’t have imagined it any better.”

Despite his well-known affection for Werder, a move to Bremen is considered highly unlikely, with the financial package required to complete such a deal seen as unrealistic.

Instead, Brandt’s next move is increasingly expected to come abroad.

Atletico Madrid are among the clubs monitoring his situation as they plan for life after Antoine Griezmann, with the Spanish side exploring creative attacking options ahead of the new season.

Interest has also emerged from AS Roma, Arsenal and Fenerbahce, with multiple leagues now offering Brandt a possible fresh start.

The former Bayer Leverkusen playmaker has remained careful not to reveal too much about his plans, although he has hinted that discussions over his future are already taking shape behind the scenes.

“I have one or two ideas, but everything in its own time.”

Brandt is not expected to enter formal negotiations until after his Dortmund farewell, with the player focused on closing this chapter before opening the next.

For now, sentiment comes first.

But once the final whistle blows in Bremen, one of Germany’s most gifted technicians will have decisions to make that could define the closing years of his career.
