Bournemouth have completed two departures, sending defender Alex Jimenez to Fiorentina on a season-long loan and confirming Owen Bevan's permanent switch to Scottish Premiership side Dundee.

The Serie A club's loan deal for Jimenez gives them the right to buy him outright for around โ‚ฌ20m (ยฃ17m), the Cherries confirmed. Crucially, the move lets the 21-year-old Spaniard keep playing in Italy, having been unable to feature in England since May, when Bournemouth withdrew him from the squad amid a club inquiry into a "serious matter" involving posts circulating on social media.

Jimenez initially arrived on the south coast on loan from AC Milan before completing a permanent transfer in February on a contract running to 2031. The Spain Under-21 international made 32 appearances for Bournemouth last season, scoring once, having previously come through Real Madrid's academy before moving to Italy with Milan.

Elsewhere, centre-back Owen Bevan has left the Cherries for good, sealing a permanent move north of the border to Dundee after a 13-year association with the south coast club that began when he joined as a nine-year-old.

A boyhood arrival at the club, the 22-year-old rose to skipper both the under-18s and development squad and got his senior bow away at Anfield in a Premier League defeat by Liverpool in August 2022. Loan spells followed at Truro City, Yeovil Town and Hibernian as he searched for regular first-team minutes he could never quite pin down at Vitality Stadium.

Dundee have handed the Wales youth international a long-term contract, with the option of a further year, as they look to strengthen their defensive options for the new Scottish Premiership season. The Dens Park club had tracked Bevan's progress before moving to secure his signature, having taken him in on trial through pre-season. Bournemouth thanked Bevan for his contribution and wished him well for the future.

For Fiorentina, the addition of Jimenez gives head coach Fabio Grosso a new option down the right flank as the club continues to reshape its squad this summer. The Italian side, who missed out on European qualification last season, have been active in the transfer market and see the versatile full-back as a long-term investment given his pedigree at both Real Madrid and Milan's academies before his switch to English football.

The two exits form part of a busy summer of squad management for Bournemouth, with the loan structure allowing them to recoup close to their original outlay on Jimenez should Fiorentina make the deal permanent next summer.
