According to Bold.dk, Borussia Dortmund and the Danish champions had been negotiating a loan with an option to buy for the 24-year-old, but the deal has since progressed further than initially reported.
Fussballtransfers reports Ramaj is already on site to undergo his medical, with the documentation for the transfer already exchanged between the two clubs. The option to buy is expected to be set at around €5 million.
Ramaj never had a realistic path to Dortmund's number one shirt after joining the club from Ajax in February 2025, arriving with the plan of building his experience through a series of loan spells instead. He spent the second half of that season on loan at Copenhagen, helping the Danish side win a league and cup double while keeping ten clean sheets in 19 appearances, before a further loan at 1. FC Heidenheim in the Bundesliga followed last season, where his impact was more limited behind veteran Kevin Müller.
The move back to Denmark now looks set to become a longer-term arrangement, with Copenhagen keen to build around a goalkeeper who already impressed there once and Dortmund content to let a player who was never going to challenge for their own starting spot continue his development, or eventually his career, elsewhere.
Should Copenhagen exercise their option, it would formalise what already looks like the natural next step in Ramaj's career after two productive loan spells away from Dortmund since his arrival in Germany.
Born in Stuttgart to Kosovo-Albanian parents, Ramaj came through Eintracht Frankfurt's academy before earning his move to Ajax in 2023, where his performances persuaded Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl to bring him back to Germany.
His time in Copenhagen previously drew praise for his composure with the ball and reliable shot-stopping, qualities the Danish club will hope translate into another successful campaign as they push for further silverware this season.
