Gleison Bremer used an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport to put an end to any doubts over his future, insisting he never asked to leave Turin despite comments earlier this year that had been read as a sign of frustration.
"I never said those words because I was looking for an excuse to leave," the Brazilian defender explained. "If anything, I was trying to express my ambition: I'm not satisfied with finishing my career with just a Coppa Italia in the cabinet.
"I want more, and I want Juventus to get back to the level it belongs at. As (Luciano) Spalletti has said, we are still a bit away from that goal, but we are laying some important building blocks for the future. Kolo Muani, Alajbegovic... and I'm backing my friend Douglas Luiz, who has plenty of quality and will show it."
On his own situation, Bremer was equally clear.
"I never asked Juventus to be sold. Especially at a difficult time, both for the club and for me, it would never cross my mind to do that. It would be like running away. If I ever leave Juventus one day, maybe when I'm older, I'll walk out the front door with my head held high."
The centre-back also gave an update on his physical condition, having started pre-season training later than his teammates: "I feel good. Obviously I'm not at my best yet, since I started my preparation later. But I'm confident I'll get back to full fitness soon, and I feel the squad is right."
Elsewhere at the Continassa, Jeremie Boga is targeting a leading role in Luciano Spalletti's rebuild after convincing the club to make his move from Nice permanent.
Discussing the decision, taken swiftly by new sporting director Giovanni Carnevali, Boga said: "Does it give me confidence? Certainly. When I arrived, I did everything I could to stay.
"When I found out Juve had made the move permanent, I was very happy, but it's not a finishing line. I still have to prove I can play for this team, I have to make everyone understand that I deserve to wear this shirt."
Boga also addressed the competition for a starting spot with Kenan Yildiz on Spalletti's right flank.
"I get on really well with him, we even live close to each other away from the pitch. We are very close, and while it's true we are in competition, it's a healthy rivalry and for me he is a top player. We played together last season too and we have a good understanding."
