The 33-year-old is set to continue earning around €25m a year regardless of the length agreed, with Bayern Munich keen to keep their captain's terms broadly unchanged despite his age.
The Times has reported that Kane is close to signing an extension through to 2029, while Sport1 says the striker's camp would prefer a deal running to 2030.
Bild has floated a possible compromise: a contract to 2029 with an option to extend for a further year to 2030, timed to keep Kane in Munich through what would be his fourth World Cup as England captain. The forward is understood to have one eye on that tournament as part of his thinking around the length of any new deal.
Bayern's confidence stems partly from how well Kane's game is expected to age. He has never relied primarily on pace, leaning instead on movement, finishing and range of passing — qualities the club believes should hold up as he approaches his late 30s.
There is also an emerging tactical dimension to the discussions: head coach Vincent Kompany is understood to like the idea of Kane gradually taking on a deeper, more creative role over time, dropping into midfield to use his passing range rather than relying purely on his movement in behind.
Even so, committing to a player of his age on close to €25m a season for potentially four more years is not without risk, and Bayern have not ruled out signing another elite forward in a coming window regardless of Kane's own future, with the club keen to build a more fluid front line around him.
Sporting director Max Eberl and chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen, the executive most responsible for originally bringing Kane to Munich, are set to lead the negotiations, with his father Pat and brother Charlie representing his interests at the table.
Since joining from Tottenham in 2023, Kane has scored 146 goals in 147 appearances for Bayern, winning two Bundesliga titles and two Golden Boots, though the Champions League — the trophy that has eluded him throughout his career — remains the target both player and club care most about securing before his time in Germany ends.
