Bayern Munich are set to integrate Arijon Ibrahimovic into their first team next season, with the young forward extending his contract through to 2028.

Bayern Munich are ready to promote Ibrahimovic into Vincent Kompany's first-team plans for next season, with the 20-year-old forward committing his long-term future to the club by extending his contract.

Sporting director Christoph Freund framed the move as the culmination of a development path Bayern have followed since Ibrahimovic's early teens.

"Arijon joined FC Bayern when he was twelve years old. He has progressed step by step through our Campus and targeted loan periods," Freund said.

"Especially over the past year at Heidenheim, he has learned a great deal personally to be ready for FC Bayern.

"His development is a great example of the opportunities we offer our talents. Now it's no longer just about learning - it's about making his mark here at FC Bayern."

That last loan spell yielded two goals and four assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances for 1. FC Heidenheim, output that convinced the club's hierarchy he no longer needs another year away from the Allianz Arena. The extension ties up a piece of business Bayern had been quietly working on for weeks, with the forward attracting interest from elsewhere in Germany and abroad before opting to stay and fight for a first-team place under Kompany.

Bayern's growing depth in attack means Ibrahimovic will face stiff competition for minutes next season, but the club's willingness to commit him to a fresh three-year deal signals genuine confidence that his time as a peripheral squad member is coming to an end.

Having first arrived at Bayern's academy as a 12-year-old, he has since gained senior experience away from Munich, including loan spells at Italian top-flight sides Frosinone and Lazio, before his season in Heidenheim persuaded the club that the next step in his development should come at home.

Reports in Germany suggest talks with Kompany played a significant role in persuading Ibrahimovic to commit his future to Bayern rather than pursue regular football elsewhere, with the head coach laying out a clear vision for how the forward would be given opportunities across multiple attacking positions next season.

Ibrahimovic made his first-team debut for Bayern back in February 2023, aged just 17, and has since collected caps for Germany's Under-21 side as his development has continued to track upward despite the various loan spells away from the Allianz Arena.
