Olise was sent off during Bayern’s 3-3 Champions League draw after throwing the ball into the face of Viking captain Zlatko Tripić. The incident came shortly after the French winger had received an initial yellow card, resulting in a second caution and his dismissal.
Asked at a press conference on Friday whether Bayern Munich had punished the 24-year-old, Eberl gave a brief response.
“We discussed the matter and settled it internally. The whole thing is now over,” he said.
His comments did not clarify whether Olise had received a financial penalty or another form of internal sanction. Eberl’s statement confirmed only that the club had addressed the incident privately and considered the matter resolved.
The dismissal proved costly in Norway. Bayern had recovered from a two-goal deficit to lead 3-2, but they were reduced to ten men after Olise’s red card and conceded a late equaliser.
Olise’s reaction drew criticism because of the circumstances in which it occurred. Rather than allowing the confrontation with Tripić to pass, he threw the ball at the Viking player and gave the referee grounds to show him a second yellow card.
The incident has consequently raised questions about discipline as Bayern continue their Champions League campaign. The winger remains an important attacking option, but his absence for the next European fixture will leave the coaching staff without one of their forward players.
Bayern are due to face Arsenal in their next Champions League match on Wednesday, with Olise suspended following his dismissal. The club will have to manage that absence while ensuring the controversy does not become a distraction.
Eberl’s comments suggest Bayern do not intend to prolong the public debate. Whether any private sanction was imposed remains unclear, but the sporting director made it clear that the club has already dealt with the incident internally.
