The 33-year-old is weighing up his next step after an August departure from AS Monaco, where his return to action produced only six league appearances last season, including one start. Several clubs in the United States have been linked with the 2018 World Cup winner, although no agreement is reported to be close.
The Daily Mail reports that Major League Soccer is currently viewed as the likeliest destination for Pogba. The newspaper said the midfielder had been offered to several MLS sides in August as he searched for a new club.
D.C. United are among the teams reported to have spoken with Pogba, while Inter Miami and New York City FC have also been mentioned as possible destinations. However, the reports do not indicate that any of the three has advanced to concrete negotiations.
Pogba has been without a club since he and Monaco parted ways in August. His spell in the Principality followed a lengthy absence from football after a doping ban, with his return to competitive action limited to a small number of appearances.
The Frenchman previously enjoyed the most prominent periods of his career at Manchester United and Juventus. He won the World Cup with France in 2018 and became a major figure in Juventus’ midfield after first leaving Manchester United, before returning to Old Trafford in 2016 for a then-world-record transfer fee.
His second spell at United was followed by a return to Juventus, but injuries and the doping case disrupted the latter stages of his career. Monaco offered a route back to top-level football, yet the brief run of appearances did not lead to a longer stay.
The MLS links remain speculative. While D.C. United are reported to have held discussions with the midfielder, the available reports say Pogba has not entered concrete talks with a new potential employer.
A move to the United States would give the former France international a different setting in which to rebuild his career, but the next step remains unresolved. For now, Pogba is a free agent and the clubs mentioned are possible destinations rather than confirmed suitors.
