According to Marca, any potential reacquisition of the winger remains on the table at Barcelona, but no decision has yet been made on whether to pursue it.
When Barcelona sold Virgili to Mallorca last summer, the club secured 40 per cent of his future federative rights and any transfer income, along with a buyback option.
Mallorca's relegation from La Liga has now triggered a significant change to that clause, automatically reducing Virgili's buyback price from €30 million to €12 million.
The winger remains under contract with Mallorca until June 2030.
Re-signing Virgili could represent a smart piece of business for Barcelona, who could buy him back for a little over €7 million given their existing 40 per cent stake, before potentially selling him on for a considerably higher sum, with his value currently estimated at around €15 million.
That would mirror the profit Barcelona made when they originally sold the academy product, having transferred him to Mallorca for around €3.5 million.
A loan return is also understood to be among the options being considered.
However, Barcelona's sporting department do not currently view bringing Virgili back into the first-team squad as a priority, given the club's existing depth in wide attacking positions.
Barcelona have already strengthened that area of the squad this summer with the signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United for a fee of around €70 million.
The future of Marcus Rashford also remains unresolved. Barcelona's option to sign the Manchester United forward permanently for €30 million expired on Monday and will not be exercised by the club, though Rashford could still remain part of Hansi Flick's squad under different terms.
Virgili, who can also operate on the right wing, faces similarly stiff competition for minutes in that position, according to assessments made by Flick and the club's football executives.
Reacquiring Virgili to make him part of Barcelona's first-team squad is not, at this stage of the market, part of the sporting department's plans.
Monday's meeting did not advance or formally launch any buyback operation. It remains a possibility that has genuinely been discussed, but no decision has been taken either way.
The meeting was simply another point of contact between Virgili's representatives and Deco, in which the player's future was discussed alongside that of other footballers represented by the same agency.
The 19-year-old winger, born in Vilassar de Mar, made 31 La Liga appearances for Mallorca this season, scoring twice and providing six assists.
His performances throughout the campaign have caught the attention of clubs beyond Barcelona, even as his former club continues to weigh up whether bringing him home makes sporting and financial sense.
