Deco outlined the club’s sporting management to the delegate members at Saturday’s Ordinary General Assembly, saying Barcelona are staying on the same path of work followed in recent years and that he is satisfied with the work done.
“The renewal of Raphinha until 2030 is very well advanced, and those of Marc Bernal and Xavi Espart too,” he said. Contacts with the Brazilian forward intensified on Friday afternoon, and his extension would be for one more season.
Deco reviewed the summer changes, including four arrivals, among them João Cancelo and Dominik Livaković, and loan exits for Marc-André ter Stegen, Marc Casadó and Ronald Araújo. Ansu Fati, Iñaki Peña, Ferran Torres and Jofre Torrents were among those sold, while Marcus Rashford and Robert Lewandowski left at the end of their contracts.
He also pointed to renewals already completed for Fermín López, Andreas Christensen, Frenkie de Jong and Eric García, as well as head coach Hansi Flick and his staff.
The finances of the squad were central to his presentation. He said the first team’s market value for 2026-27 is €1.26 billion, €524 million more than at the start of 2021-22, and that €583 million of it, 46 per cent, belongs to players developed at La Masia.
“We have the highest squad value in the world,” Deco said.
On the transfer market, he said purchases came to €181 million and sales to €72 million, in net prices rather than profits, a difference of €109 million.
He defended the sporting department’s approach and results.
“The 90 minutes they spend on the pitch are no coincidence,” he said.
Deco said there would be no change of course.
“We will not change our work strategy or our sporting objective, which is to win all the titles. Also, we want to keep counting on the young players from La Masia,” he said.
Club vice-president Rafa Yuste also praised the work of the sporting area, singling out Flick, Deco and Bojan Krkić.
