Brighton have also been monitoring the CS Emelec prospect, but Villa have now taken steps to establish the conditions required to sign him.
Fragozo came through Emelec's youth system and made his first-team debut in April 2025, aged 15 years and 20 days. He became the youngest player to appear in Ecuador's LigaPro.
He has since progressed through the country's youth international teams, making his Ecuador Under-15 debut in September 2025 before stepping up to the Under-17 side during the South American Under-17 Championship.
His performances at club and international level are understood to have attracted attention from European scouts.
Journalist Nicolás Ayala reported that Aston Villa are among the clubs interested in the versatile youngster. Villa have reportedly made contact to learn what would be required to complete a deal.
Fragozo has accumulated 40 appearances and 1,474 minutes for Emelec, scoring once and providing five assists. In the current calendar year, he has registered one goal and four assists in 27 appearances.
Although primarily used as a left wing-back, he has also featured in several attacking positions, giving interested clubs flexibility in how they could develop him.
There is no reported transfer fee at this stage. His valuation has risen sharply in recent months, reflecting his progress and the attention he has attracted.
However, any move to England would require patience. Fragozo turns 18 in April 2028, meaning an English club could not bring him to the UK to play before then under the rules governing the international transfer of minors.
Aston Villa or another Premier League side could potentially agree a transfer with Emelec ahead of that date, with the player joining once eligible in 2028.
Brighton were previously reported to be interested, and Villa's approach adds another Premier League club to the picture. Increased competition could strengthen Emelec's negotiating position if further sides pursue the teenager.
For now, the interest remains at an early stage. Villa have reportedly made contact, but no fee or agreement has been confirmed.
