Arsenal-linked forward Eli Junior Kroupi has returned to Bournemouth’s first-team training, offering a timely update on the Frenchman ahead of the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old has been sidelined since suffering a metatarsal injury in July, but Bournemouth head coach Marco Rose has confirmed he is in contention to feature against Manchester United on Sunday.

Kroupi made a major impact in his first Premier League campaign, scoring 13 goals in 33 appearances during the 2025-26 season. His performances attracted interest from Arsenal and other leading clubs, with the forward emerging as one of the league’s most promising young attacking talents.

Arsenal’s interest has been reported as Mikel Arteta considers ways to strengthen his forward line. The club have also been linked with Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez, although the Argentine’s importance to his current side and reported preference for Barcelona could complicate any pursuit.

Kroupi’s return to training comes at a significant point in the season, but Bournemouth have little apparent incentive to sell. Reports have suggested the club would demand a fee approaching £100 million to consider parting with the Frenchman, who remains under contract until 2030.

Rose confirmed the immediate priority is to manage Kroupi’s return carefully rather than rush him back into a demanding run of matches.

“It's the plan to take him with us to Manchester, and to give him some minutes,” the Bournemouth head coach said ahead of the weekend fixture.

“He is a funny guy, I love him. He has a good attitude and he is a special player.

“We have to take care of him and he needs to take care on his next steps.”

Those comments provide a positive update for the player after several months out, although his first task is to regain match fitness and re-establish his place in the Bournemouth side.

The Cherries’ position on a possible January departure also remains a major obstacle for any interested club. Their reported valuation reflects both Kroupi’s output last season and the potential for further development, while his long contract gives Bournemouth a strong negotiating position.

For Arsenal, his availability is encouraging, but a return to training does not mean a transfer is close. Any move would depend on the clubs’ willingness to negotiate, the player’s situation and whether Bournemouth are prepared to reconsider their stance during the winter window.
