Bayer Leverkusen consider January move for Juventus defender Bremer

Gleison Bremer could be approaching a crossroads at Juventus, with Bayer Leverkusen reportedly prepared to pursue the Brazilian centre-back when the January transfer window opens.

The 29-year-old has established himself as a central figure in Juventus’ defence, but the possibility of a move is attracting attention as Leverkusen look to strengthen at the back.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Bundesliga club are tracking Bremer and could be ready to make a serious offer.

Bremer’s contract runs until June 2029, following the extension announced by Juventus in 2024. However, the length of that agreement does not necessarily rule out a departure if the player and club believe a transfer would suit their respective ambitions.

Leverkusen are currently competing near the top of the Bundesliga and are reportedly interested in adding an experienced defender capable of making an immediate impact. Bremer’s physical strength, defensive aggression and familiarity with high-level European football make him an attractive option.

For the Brazilian, the prospect of playing regularly in the Champions League could also be a significant consideration. He is seeking to establish himself among the leading defenders in world football and maintain a prominent place in Brazil’s national-team plans.

The report suggests that, unlike previous approaches which Bremer did not pursue, the German club could represent a more appealing opportunity. A change in representation has also added to speculation over his future, although there has been no official indication that he has formally requested a transfer.

Juventus would have their own reasons to consider the situation carefully. Bremer remains an important part of the team, but his market value and salary mean an attractive proposal could prompt discussions, particularly if the club needs to strengthen other areas of the squad.

His preference for a back three has also been identified as a tactical consideration, with the defender’s characteristics influencing how Juventus set up defensively. A potential sale would therefore require the club to weigh both the financial return and the difficulty of replacing a key player.

Any deal would depend on the offer reaching Juventus’ expectations and on Bremer’s willingness to leave. Leverkusen’s interest is reported rather than confirmed by either club, and no agreement has been announced.

January could nevertheless bring a significant decision for Juventus. If Leverkusen follow their interest with a convincing proposal, Bremer’s future may become one of the more closely watched defensive transfer stories of the winter window.
