Antonio Conte has rejected claims that he has already made financial demands or sought full control at clubs interested in appointing him, insisting there are no advanced negotiations over his return to management.

The former Napoli manager issued a statement on Instagram after being linked with several jobs, including Manchester United and Juventus. He said he would take his time before deciding when to return to the dugout.

“Following recent media reports in Italy and abroad, I feel it is appropriate to clarify my position.

“My name has been linked with numerous clubs, but there are currently no negotiations at an advanced stage. Following a wonderful and successful spell in charge of Napoli, I will take the time I need to consider how and when to return to management. It will be a carefully considered decision, one I will make when I believe the conditions are right.

“I have read reports of financial demands and requests for full control that I have supposedly already made to the clubs mentioned, as well as reservations about what has been described as my “strong personality”. These reports are unfounded, as there is currently no concrete basis for such assessments.

“Should a concrete opportunity arise, that will be the time to hold discussions with the club concerned and jointly consider the terms of a potential agreement, with due regard for both parties’ needs and the qualities and approach that define my work as a manager.

“Until then, any assumptions about my demands and my professional future remain speculation and cannot be treated as fact.”

Conte left Napoli in June after the club and his staff agreed to part ways before the end of their contracts. He had led the team to the Serie A title in 2025 and the Italian Super Cup during his two seasons in charge.

His record in English football also makes him an obvious name whenever a major Premier League vacancy emerges. Conte won the Premier League with Chelsea in 2016-17 and the FA Cup the following season, before later managing Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United’s difficult start to the campaign has fuelled speculation over Michael Carrick’s future, with Conte among the managers linked to the position. Juventus have also been mentioned as a possible destination.

However, Conte’s statement makes clear that he has not reached an advanced stage of talks with any club. He has left open the possibility of a return, while stressing that any decision will depend on the circumstances and discussions surrounding a concrete offer.
