Nico Paz scored twice, with Anastasios Douvikas and Jacobo Ramón also finding the net as Como produced an impressive attacking display. Joshua Zirkzee scored a late consolation for Manchester United, but the visitors had been comprehensively outplayed for much of the contest.
Da Cunha described the result as a historic occasion for the Italian club, insisting that Como had demonstrated their ability to compete against major European opposition.
“It's a historic evening. We have beaten a great team and scored four goals. We know how we play and how to hurt teams, and we demonstrated that again tonight. We are ready to play these matches,” he said.
The Como midfielder also felt the victory reflected the opportunities his side regularly create through their attacking approach.
“We had a lot of chances, as usual,” Da Cunha added.
Como's confidence was evident from the opening stages. Paz gave them an early lead before Douvikas doubled the advantage shortly after half-time. Paz then capitalised on a midfield error to score again, and Ramón's header made it 4-0 before Zirkzee's late reply.
Baturina, meanwhile, spoke about the importance of receiving his coach's confidence and continuing to work hard as he settles into life at Como.
“If the coach thinks good things about you, it's motivating. I have to try to be the best player possible through training and commitment,” the Croatian said.
The midfielder joined Como from Dinamo Zagreb after a difficult final period at his previous club. He admitted that leaving had not been an easy decision, although he believes the move has proved positive for both parties.
“I was at Dinamo for a long time. Unfortunately, the final year wasn't the best possible, and I thought moving was the right decision. It wasn't easy. Then they won everything, so it was a positive decision for them too,” Baturina explained.
He also praised the football Como are producing, while insisting that the team must continue to develop rather than become satisfied with one result.
“We are playing beautiful football and we have to improve from match to match,” he said.
Baturina also paid tribute to Zvonimir Boban, describing the Croatian great as a model for footballers and someone he admires.
The victory over United provided a significant statement about Como's potential in Europe. Da Cunha's confidence in their style and Baturina's determination to keep improving suggest the players believe the performance can become a foundation for further progress.
