Jarell Quansah has declined to discuss his long-term future despite reported interest from several leading clubs, insisting his priority is to perform for Bayer Leverkusen throughout the current season.

The 23-year-old centre-back joined Leverkusen from Liverpool in 2025 after the German club lost Jonathan Tah to Bayern Munich. He has made a strong impression since moving to the Bundesliga and has also progressed into England’s senior international set-up.

According to previous reporting from Sky Sport Germany, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been monitoring Quansah. His development has attracted attention beyond Germany, but the defender is not allowing the speculation to distract him from his current responsibilities.

“I just have to concentrate on playing this season,” Quansah said.

“I’m playing as many matches as possible and trying to get better – more than that, I can’t do,” he added.

Liverpool remain particularly relevant to the defender’s future because they reportedly hold a buy-back option in their agreement with Leverkusen. Recent reports put the clause at around €60 million, or approximately £50 million, and say it can be exercised until 15 June 2027.

The option gives Liverpool a potential advantage over rival suitors, although it does not mean the club have decided to bring Quansah back. Reports have suggested that a return to Anfield is not currently part of their immediate plans, even as they continue to follow his progress.

Quansah’s versatility is another attraction. Primarily a centre-back, he can also operate at right-back, offering options across the defensive line. His progress in Germany has strengthened his reputation after Liverpool allowed him to leave for regular first-team football.

For Bayer Leverkusen, retaining a defender who has developed into an established part of their plans will be important, particularly if interest from England and Spain continues to grow. A move would require a club to act within the terms of the existing agreement or negotiate with the German side.

Quansah has made clear that he is not interested in allowing transfer talk to dictate his season. His immediate aim is to keep playing, continue improving and let his performances determine what opportunities may follow.
