Arsenal’s long-term plans took another intriguing turn this week after teenage twins Edwin Quintero and Holger Quintero trained with Mikel Arteta’s senior squad ahead of their future move to north London.

The Ecuadorian prospects are not officially due to join Arsenal until August 2027, when both players turn 18, but the club have already given them an early taste of life at London Colney.

Both players are currently developing at Independiente del Valle, one of South America’s most respected talent factories, and have already represented Ecuador at under-17 level.

Edwin Quintero, a direct right winger known for his pace and one-on-one ability, is viewed as one of the standout attacking prospects in his age group.

His brother Holger operates deeper in midfield, where his composure in possession and passing range have also drawn attention from scouts across Europe.

The pair were also in attendance earlier this week as Arsenal beat Atletico Madrid, giving them a close look at the environment they are expected to enter in the coming years.

Arsenal’s recruitment of elite young talent has become a growing part of Arteta’s wider project, and the Quintero brothers are seen as another investment in the club’s future.

For now, their arrival remains two years away.

But their presence around the first team this early suggests Arsenal already believe they are dealing with something far beyond ordinary academy prospects.
