AC Milan sit on seven points from their opening three Serie A games, having won twice before being held 1-1 by Juventus at the Allianz Stadium last weekend, a result Amorim himself admitted came with a below-par performance.
Speaking ahead of Saturday's trip to face Gennaro Gattuso's unbeaten Lazio at the Olimpico, the Portuguese coach addressed the wave of criticism that followed directly.
"Criticism is normal, and having already experienced it at my previous club, it's impossible to have more of it than that," Amorim said. "What's positive is what I promise: I remember everything I say. What I've promised is that the team will always come first.
"Then I've expressed my intention and what they ask me to do, which is to be proactive and try to score goals. Sometimes we want to score and really be proactive, but then there's the opponent. Maybe Spalletti is really good and pushes us back; even if we want to keep possession, and we had more of it than Juventus, if the other guy is better than me he'll cause you problems. But that doesn't change our intention."
Amorim insisted his side's approach remains deliberate even when results suggest otherwise.
"If you look at our team, there's always a clear intention: you'll never see anything random. Sometimes we look a bit rigid because we're looking for certain patterns that are difficult for the players," he said.
"I understand the pressure. I understand that it's difficult to accept a young coach coming to Italy to explain how to play football, and at first you're just waiting for the chance to say it to my face. I understand that, but the only thing I promise is that the team will come first."
He added that facing coaches of the calibre of Spalletti or Cesc Fabregas would inevitably test his young Milan side, but that setbacks would not shift his approach.
"Every time we don't dominate creatively you'll ask me: 'You promised this!' No, I didn't promise that. I promised that this would always be my intention. Sometimes I won't be able to give you what you want, guys," Amorim said. "Against Lazio we'll try to be dominant, but the game against Juventus opened my eyes a little and I'm ready for what comes next. I've told my players: we have to be perfect."
Milan are expected to field Mike Maignan in goal as captain, with summer signing Mario Gila continuing in a back three alongside Koni De Winter and Strahinja Pavlovic, while Yunus Musah is favoured over Ardon Jashari to partner Luka Modric in midfield.
