Talks between Milan and Porto over Giménez have formally opened, according to Matteo Moretto, with the two clubs discussing a loan deal carrying an option to buy.
Porto have also been in regular contact with the Mexican striker's camp to iron out personal terms. Giménez arrived in Milan for a fee in the region of €30-35 million with bonuses and signed a contract running to June 2029, but his time in Serie A has yielded only around 37 appearances and seven goals across all competitions, with a serious injury wiping out much of last season.
Porto head coach Francesco Farioli has pushed personally for the move, having worked alongside the striker's staff during their time together in Dutch football, and sees him as an ideal fit to fill the void left by the injured Samu.
At Milanello, meanwhile, the club is turning attention to trimming its midfield, with Youssouf Fofana still top of the exit list and several Premier League clubs pushing to sign him. But according to Milannews, interest has now emerged in Samuele Ricci as well.
Atalanta are the most concrete suitors, driven by head coach Maurizio Sarri's long-standing admiration for the 24-year-old — Sarri tried repeatedly to sign him during his time at Lazio without success. Atalanta have yet to make a formal move, however, and it remains to be seen whether the interest heats up over the closing weeks of the market.
AC Milan value Ricci at around €18-20 million, having brought him in from Torino for roughly €23 million with bonuses last summer, a deal that has yet to deliver consistent returns after a first season in which he struggled to establish himself as a regular starter under Rubén Amorim. He made 31 appearances in his debut campaign but only 11 as a starter, with just one goal and four assists to show for it.
Both situations are expected to develop further before the transfer window closes, as Milan look to balance incoming business with a lighter, more streamlined squad.
