Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown knows what it takes to make it at Old Trafford.

A five time Premier League winner and Champions League victor, Brown came through United's famous academy system himself. And now he believes another youngster could be ready to follow.

Teen talent JJ Gabriel is the name on supporters' lips and Brown admits the hype is not misplaced.

"First of all, there is a lot of talent," Brown told Football Presse.

"The skill levels now have got better compared to my time. The way players move on the ball, the skills they have."

And Gabriel stands out.

"If you watch him, he has been very consistent for his age. The way he moves the ball and gets around, it is very interesting."

Brown believes the big question now is timing.

"Can you push him now? Can you start putting him in training more and maybe get him a game?"

He points to the rise of teenage stars across Europe as proof that age is no longer a barrier.

"When you look at someone like Yamal, physically you might think he is not ready. But then you watch him play and think maybe I was wrong."

For Brown, the verdict is simple.

"Talent wise, you cannot take away that he has something special."
