Il Messaggero reported that Soulé is among the Roma players whose sale can generate a meaningful capital gain in time to satisfy Financial Fair Play requirements. Alongside Evan Ndicka, Manu Kone and goalkeeper Mile Svilar, his exit is being considered as part of a broader restructuring operation.
Villa's contacts have been made at player level rather than directly with AS Roma sporting director Ricky Massara, but head coach Unai Emery is understood to be personally keen on the signing. Roma bought Soulé from Juventus for €30million in the summer of 2024. He carries a book value of €15million on Roma's accounts, meaning any sale above that figure qualifies as a capital gain — and at Villa's expected offer of around €30million, it clears the bar comfortably.
The relationship between Aston Villa and Roma has developed meaningfully in the past year. Donyell Malen joined Roma on loan from Villa, and Leon Bailey completed a similar arrangement. That familiarity between the clubs could smooth negotiations if both sides decide to formalise discussions.
Soulé has posted six goals and five assists across 29 Serie A appearances this season, though his form dipped after returning from a groin injury in the new year. Head coach Gian Piero Gasperini would not stand in the way of a sale if an acceptable offer arrives and a replacement is identified.
Bournemouth, Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart have also registered interest, though Villa represent the most attractive destination of those currently involved.
The timing of any deal will be shaped by events on the pitch. Villa sit in contention for Champions League football via the Premier League and are in a Europa League semi-final — a competition they could yet win. Soulé is more likely to commit to a club that can offer him European football next season.
Roma's financial calendar, however, does not have the luxury of waiting to see how Villa's season ends.
