"Very proud" Kane breaks Bundesliga record with 100th goal as Bayern rout Union

Bayern Munich

Harry Kane became the fastest player in Bundesliga history to reach 100 goals, doing so in his 98th league appearance in Bayern Munich's 7-0 win over Union Berlin on Friday.

The England captain, 33, scored twice in Bayern Munich's 7-0 win over Union Berlin on Friday, converting a 39th-minute penalty for his 100th league goal and adding his 101st in the 54th minute. Nobody has reached the mark faster: the previous record was Dieter Müller's 129 games.

Kane, who has scored for Bayern since the summer of 2023, found the net 36 times last season and is the Bundesliga's top scorer in 2025-26. This season he has three goals and an assist in four league games. Jamal Musiala had opened the scoring on 18 minutes, and Kane's penalty came after Michael Olise was fouled by Tom Rothe.

Olise, who then crossed for Kane's 101st, went on to score a hat-trick, his first for Bayern Munich, with Ismael Saibari also on target as Vincent Kompany's team put seven past Union.

Bayern top the Bundesliga after four rounds with 10 points, at least until Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund play on Saturday. Kane spoke to Sky Sport Germany after the match.

"I'm very proud to have now scored 100 and 101 goals in the Bundesliga. I haven't been here for long. I've loved every second of it."

He also thanked those around him.

"I just want to thank the team, the club, the manager and the staff, everyone who has helped me achieve this. Let's keep it up."

Kane then reflected on the scale of the achievement.

"Scoring more goals in the matches is of course a big step. There have of course been many important goals among them."

His contract runs until next summer, but reports suggest Bayern are close to agreeing an extension. The German champions would like to see Kane crowned Ballon d'Or winner at the October ceremony, according to 20 Minuten.

For Kane, the milestone came at the right moment for a team that had laboured to a 2-1 win at Elversberg in their previous game.

Bayern head into the international break with the momentum of a seven-goal win and a striker who has already matched the best of Bundesliga history.
