Carlos Corberan's future continues to be written in Valencia, with the 43-year-old head coach having agreed a new deal that extends his contract at the club until June 2028.

The extension adds a further year to his existing terms, with the club framing the move as a vote of confidence in Corberan's ability to lead the first team over the coming seasons.

In a statement, Valencia explained the thinking behind the decision. "The Club extends the coach's contractual link by one more year, a decision aimed at consolidating the foundations of the sporting project with the conviction that Carlos Corberan is the ideal figure to lead the team's growth over the coming seasons.

"This move has the full backing of president Kiat Lim, as well as football CEO Ron Gourlay, and reflects the commitment to building a competitive, consistent and stable project, with a vision for the present and future, to return Valencia CF to the place it deserves and compete for more ambitious objectives."

Corberan has overseen a mixed period since taking charge in December 2024, when he arrived from West Bromwich Albion with Valencia sitting in the relegation zone. He steered the club to a 12th-place finish in his first half-season, though results have fluctuated since, including heavy defeats to Barcelona and Real Madrid during the following campaign.

The new deal ties him to the club for a further year beyond his original contract, running through to 2028, giving both squad planning and recruitment greater long-term clarity heading into the new season.

Born in Cheste, in the Valencia region, Corberan came through the club's own academy as a goalkeeper before retiring from playing at 23 to pursue coaching, working his way up through Villarreal's youth setup, a spell as Marcelo Bielsa's assistant at Leeds United, and manager roles at Huddersfield Town, Olympiacos and West Brom before returning to his boyhood club.

Corberan had originally signed a three-and-a-half-year deal through to 2027 when he joined in December 2024, meaning this latest extension adds a further season on top of those original terms, a reflection of the club's growing confidence in his project.

The timing, in the middle of the summer transfer window, also gives Corberan greater authority over incoming and outgoing squad decisions as Valencia continue planning for the new campaign.
