Udinese made a €10 million move for São Paulo defender Luis Osório in the summer, but the Brazilian club rejected the proposal for the highly rated youngster.

Udinese have already made their interest in São Paulo defender Luis Osório concrete, with the Italian club having offered €10 million for the young centre-back during the summer.

TuttoUdinese says São Paulo rejected the proposal because Osório is tied to the Brazilian club until 2030 and has a €100 million release clause for clubs outside Brazil.

The 20-year-old is regarded as one of the most promising defenders in São Paulo's academy system and has now attracted attention from clubs in Europe. Udinese's approach confirms that their interest went beyond routine scouting.

Osório's new agent, Diogo Silva, has played down the significance of the earlier proposal, explaining that he was not involved when the Italian club made its approach.

“We have been managing Osorio’s career for a little over two months, I did not participate in this situation with Udinese so I cannot talk about it,” Silva said.

The agent also made clear that the immediate priority is for Osório to establish himself in the São Paulo first team rather than pursue a move to Europe.

“I hope that, unfortunately with Domingos’ injury, he can get minutes and contribute to São Paulo so that he can first establish himself as an athlete at the club, as a starter, a status from which he is still far away. Afterwards, obviously, we will start working on some situations to bring clubs and talk to São Paulo, if the club agrees to sell the player,” Silva said.

That stance suggests an immediate transfer is unlikely, despite Udinese's willingness to invest heavily in the defender.

São Paulo have instead opted to retain Osório and allow his value to develop through greater first-team exposure. The club's decision also reflects the protection provided by his long-term contract and sizeable release clause.

For Udinese, the failed approach nevertheless provides evidence of their interest in one of Brazil's emerging defensive talents. Whether they return with another proposal will depend largely on how quickly Osório establishes himself in São Paulo's senior side.
