Tottenham have been linked with a summer move for River Plate winger Ian Subiabre, with the Argentine giants already on alert over the 19-year-old's future.

Subiabre came through River Plate's academy and broke into the first team in 2024, quickly establishing himself as one of the more exciting young attackers in South American football. His form earned him a debut for Argentina Under-20s in 2025, and he has not looked back since.

Argentine outlet El Intransigente report that Tottenham have accelerated their interest, with their pursuit said to have set off alarm bells at the Buenos Aires club. An unnamed German side have also made contact to ask about his availability.

The teenager made a significant impact on the international stage, scoring five goals across 15 matches at the Under-20 South American Championship and the Under-20 World Cup. Argentina reached the final of the latter tournament before losing to Morocco.

Subiabre's entourage are not ruling out listening to offers when the window opens, leaving the door open for negotiations. River Plate, for their part, are pointing firmly to a €100 million release clause — a figure designed to deter all but the most serious suitors.

Whether Tottenham — fighting to preserve their Premier League status with seven games remaining — are in a position to move at that level this summer remains to be seen. Roberto De Zerbi will have a significant say in recruitment decisions, and a dynamic young winger fits the profile of player he has consistently favoured throughout his coaching career.
