Tottenham are reportedly monitoring Besiktas striker Oh Hyeon-gyu as they consider adding a new forward during the January transfer window.

The 25-year-old South Korea international has been identified as another potential option for a Tottenham side whose forwards have struggled to provide the required attacking output.

The London club are expected to pursue a striker in January after a difficult start to the season, with the team currently at the bottom of the Premier League according to the supplied report.

Oh has scored once in 13 appearances so far this campaign, although his form last season has helped attract Tottenham’s attention.

The Besiktas forward enjoyed a strong campaign in Turkish football and has now emerged as a possible target for Spurs.

Reports from Turkey suggest that the player's name was recommended to Tottenham by Son Heung-min, the former Spurs captain and South Korea team-mate.

Son remains a highly influential figure in the history of the London club, and his knowledge of the South Korean international has reportedly contributed to Tottenham considering the striker.

Besiktas, however, are not looking to make Oh available cheaply.

The Turkish club regard the 25-year-old as an important member of their squad and would only consider a January sale if a sufficiently high offer arrives.

That could make a winter move difficult, particularly with Tottenham expected to examine several options for their attack.

Oh joined Besiktas after establishing himself as a South Korea international and has continued to be part of the national-team setup.

His current season has not produced the same level of output as his previous campaign, but Tottenham's interest suggests the club remain attracted to what he can offer as a central striker.

The London club's need for attacking reinforcements means the position is likely to be one of the main areas of focus when the transfer window opens.

For Besiktas, there is little immediate reason to actively seek a sale. The club consider Oh important and can therefore demand a substantial fee if Tottenham decide to turn their interest into an offer.

The next step will depend on how Tottenham assess their attacking options in the weeks before January.

For now, Oh remains with Besiktas, but his name has entered Tottenham's list of potential targets as the Premier League club searches for additional firepower.
