The 23-year-old Croatia international has scored six goals and provided two assists in seven appearances across all competitions, including three goals and one assist in four Bundesliga matches.
Those performances have reportedly attracted interest from the Premier League, with Tottenham and Manchester United among the clubs linked with the striker.
Matanovic is aware of the speculation but insists his focus remains on SC Freiburg.
“I’m not thinking about that. I’m focused on the pitch because I know everything else depends on how you train and play,” he told Vecernji list.
“When there is talk of interest from such clubs, it shows you are on the right track. It can serve as extra motivation to keep going in the same direction.”
Matanovic is currently with Croatia and is pushing for a starting role under Slaven Bilic after making his senior international debut in 2024.
He has scored twice in 12 appearances for his country.
The striker also acknowledged the appeal of the Premier League but refused to speculate about whether a move to England would suit him.
“We all know the Premier League is among the best in the world, distinguished by its high tempo and dynamic nature,” he said.
“I believe that if you are a genuine, complete player, you can succeed in any league.”
Matanovic instead remains focused on continuing his form in Germany and helping Freiburg win matches.
“As for which one suits someone best, you can probably only tell once you’ve actually played there,” he added.
