Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford are monitoring Como captain Lucas Da Cunha, despite the midfielder signing a new contract with the Italian club until 2031.

The 25-year-old French midfielder signed a new contract in July that runs until the summer of 2031.

Tuttomercatoweb reports that the extension has not stopped Premier League clubs monitoring his progress, with Como likely to demand a significant offer before considering a departure.

Da Cunha joined Como from Nice in January 2023 and has developed into a central figure during the club’s rise. The club’s official figures credit him with 129 appearances, 20 goals and 15 assists across Serie B, Serie A and the Coppa Italia since his arrival. Tuttomercatoweb’s latest report puts his overall tally at 130 appearances.

He was part of the side that secured promotion back to Serie A and then helped Como qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history. The midfielder was also named captain, reflecting his importance to Cesc Fàbregas and the team’s development.

FĂ bregas praised that progress when Da Cunha renewed his contract, saying:

“Lucas represents everything we want to build at Como. I had the privilege of playing alongside him when he first arrived, and since then I have watched him grow into a top midfielder, our captain and a real leader for this team.”

The Como coach added that the player’s value extends beyond his technical quality, highlighting his humility, intelligence and commitment to the collective.

Da Cunha’s new deal is a strong indication that Como want to retain him, and Tuttomercatoweb suggests any club hoping to lure him away would need to make an offer capable of convincing both the player and his current employers.

Tottenham and Brentford are the two Premier League sides named in the report, but they are not presented as having made formal bids. The story is one of interest rather than an advanced negotiation, with Da Cunha under contract for almost five more years.

Como’s position is strengthened by the length of that agreement and the midfielder’s standing within the squad. For now, the reported attention from England is unlikely to change the club’s plans unless a proposal arrives that is difficult to refuse.
