The 29-year-old Italy international is set to travel to Turin to complete a return to Serie A, with a £8.6 million purchase option attached to the loan that Juventus are not obliged to trigger.
The move follows the collapse of Juventus' pursuit of Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, with Aston Villa instead closing in on a deal for Parma's Zion Suzuki. Martínez has been carrying an injured finger and is currently unavailable for selection, a factor that contributed to Juventus turning their attention to Vicario as an alternative.
Vicario had fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham under manager Roberto De Zerbi, who elevated understudy Antonin Kinsky to the number one role last season. De Zerbi has since confirmed Kinsky will remain his first-choice goalkeeper heading into the new campaign, with Martin Dubravka signed on a free transfer from Burnley in July to provide further competition and cover behind him.
The move is part of a club-record summer of spending for Tottenham, who have brought in six new players so far this window while still targeting two further attacking additions. Alongside the incomings, the north London club have also sold, loaned out or released several senior figures from last season's squad, including captain Cristian Romero, England international Djed Spence and Yves Bissouma.
Vicario made 117 appearances for Spurs after signing from Empoli for £17.2 million in 2023, a spell that included lifting the Europa League in 2025 before his role diminished this year.
His departure leaves Juventus needing to resolve the future of current number one Michele Di Gregorio, who arrived from Monza in 2024 and is expected to be offered out on loan as Vicario prepares to take over between the posts in Turin.
Juventus had previously explored other goalkeeping options over the summer, including enquiries over Alisson at Liverpool, before settling on Vicario as their preferred solution.
The Italy international's arrival is expected to be finalised in the coming hours, with a medical and contract signing to follow once he lands in Turin.
